When Cassie was 5 she began her musical adventure in a production titled Peace Child. At six, she began performing in Contra Costa Children's Chorus as well as beginning all sorts of dance classes including tap, ballet, jazz, gymnastics, and baton twirling for the Concord Blue Devils.
She started taking piano lessons when she was eight. She remained with the Contra Costa Children's Chorus and had several opportunities to sing on tour. Shee performed, and sometimes competed, in Oregon, Carnegie Hall, Disneyland, and various European locations including Prague, Salzburg, and Budapest.
In high school she started acoustic guitar lessons. At Diablo Valley College she began to study jazz and small ensemble collaboration. Transferring to California State University in Chico, she began work on her bachelor degree in music education with an emphasis in vocal performance. It was there that she had her first opportunity for one-on-one vocal lessons. The emphasis at that time was on classical singing, which required her to sing in many languages. She learned the art of pronunciation which is especially critical when signing in a non-native language.
Her degree required her to learn each classical instrument at a basic level, become proficient at conducting an ensemble, learn to teach different modalities and types of learners, and perform solo and as part of a group.
After graduating she has been teaching private piano, voice, guitar, and ukulele lessons to students in a wide range of ages and skill levels. She enjoys playing with other musicians and singing karaoke with friends.
Cassie says: "I love my work and am very enthusiastic about sharing the joy of music with my students! I try to make every lesson specifically dedicated to each student's current musical interests as well as making sure that we are having fun while creating perfect technical habits."
