Melissa Hoefer

Melissa Hoefer is a freelance musician and flute instructor in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is a member of the East Bay Symphonic Band under the direction of Beverly Johnson, in addition to playing principle flute in the California State University East Bay Symphony Orchestra for four years. Ms. Hoefer is also currently the piccoloist for the Temple Hill Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Esteban Zapiain. In addition, she is an instructor and counselor for the La Honda Music Camp and has taught there for the past six years. Ms. Hoefer has played in various musicals and chamber groups throughout Northern California.
Born and raised in Ukiah, CA, Ms. Hoefer’s musical interest was inspired by her first band director, Darrin Michaels and was deeply encouraged by her high school director, John Mattern. She has studied privately with Audrey Kircher, Sharon Watts, and Michelle Caimotto. Ms. Hoefer graduated from California State University East Bay (formerly Hayward) in 2005 with a Bachelors of Arts in flute performance. She currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and teaches private lessons on flute and piccolo. |
