Bio
Paloma Monteiro is a pianist, educator, and researcher working at the intersection of elite musical performance, cognitive science, and progressive pedagogy. Holding a Master's degree in Music, she is currently a doctoral researcher at McGill University, where she investigates movement synchronization in pianists using advanced motion capture technology under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Marcelo Wanderley.
Paloma’s research contributions have earned her the prestigious ABCM Award at the 5th National Meeting on Cognition and Musical Arts (ENCAM V). She frequently presents her findings at major international conferences, including NCKP – The Piano Conference (Chicago), the Global Arts and Psychology Seminar (GAPS), and the First Ibero-American Congress on Music Psychology and Music Cognition.
Complementing her academic achievements is a robust performing career. An award-winning soloist and chamber musician, Paloma has won top prizes at the National Cora Pavan Capparelli and Professor Abrão Calil Neto competitions and recently featured as a guest soloist with the Philharmonic Orchestra.
