Raphael Abissamra is an accomplished, highly innovative drum instructor whose musical journey began in 2009 under the guidance of Abner Paul and João Paulo Halasz. From the start, Raphael's passion for music was evident, as he quickly began performing at various venues, including bars, birthday parties, and private events. His natural talent and dedication led him to deepen his studies at a private music conservatory in 2012, training under Azael Rodrigues. This foundational year of rigorous practice paved the way for his admission to Santa Marcelina University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Popular Instrument in 2017.

At Santa Marcelina, Raphael's growth was significantly influenced by his mentorship with the internationally renowned drummer Edu Ribeiro. Performing with the celebrated "FASM Big Band," led by Rubinho Antunes, Raphael showcased his adaptability and mastery in blending Brazilian musical roots with jazz improvisation. His diverse ensemble work during this period included notable groups such as 4teto Abstrakt, Vitrais, and Grupo Quintal, which allowed him to refine his improvisational skills and artistic expression.

Continuing his commitment to excellence, Raphael pursued advanced studies, completing the Advanced Drum Course at EMESP in 2018 and earning a post-graduate degree in Popular Music in 2019. In 2023, he expanded his expertise even further with a post-graduate program in Percussion.

Since 2013, Raphael has been an in-demand performer, captivating audiences at festivals, cultural events, theaters, live music venues, and corporate gatherings. His versatility across styles like Rock, Pop, MPB, Reggae, Jazz, Blues, and Bossa Nova has solidified his reputation as a dynamic and adaptable musician capable of thriving in diverse musical landscapes.

What sets Raphael apart as a drum instructor is his deep-rooted understanding of rhythm, his innovative approach to teaching, and his commitment to nurturing each student's creativity. He brings a holistic perspective to music education, drawing from his experience in experimental and improvisational projects. For instance, his 2018 B44 project combined live music and dance improvisation to benefit a Cancer Hospital, while "The Drummer and The Scooter" explored the synergy of drumming and motorcycle sounds in a unique audiovisual collaboration with Marcel Enderle.

Raphael's approach to drumming emphasizes not only technical skill but also the power of musical storytelling and improvisation. His ability to draw inspiration from auditory, visual, and sensory cues makes him a highly qualified, forward-thinking educator who empowers students to explore and experiment confidently. Today, he continues to inspire through instrumental jazz, experimental music, and alternative pop projects, maintaining a vibrant and ever-evolving presence in the music world.
